I aggressively collected geocoins from May 2006 through to the end of 2008. Presented here are 986 of the approximately 1,040 geocoins I acquired during the frenzy.

Mr. Jiffy's Summer Meltdown

Mr. Jiffy's Summer Meltdown

I met Ontario geocacher mrjiffy at a COG pub event in January 2008 where he told me about his planned cointest for that summer. I signed on immediately with a donation for the prize pool.

During the cointest, polished nickel versions of this coin (120 of them, I believe) were released and traveled around. The cointest involved finding, logging, and moving the geocoin on within seven days. There were also 90 black nickel versions of the geocoin sold, and 40 of these antique copper 'trade-only' geocoins. In addition, 30 frosted gold geocoins were minted for cointest winners. (These numbers are my best guess, trying to piece it together from the old forum thread.) Ultimately, the grand prize winner was Solan109 of Sweden who received 100 different geocoins.
