Long Weekend in Montreal
For the Victoria Day weekend, we travelled by train to Montreal with Grandma and Grandpa S. and Jocelyn. The 4.5 hour train ride was quite comfortable, getting us to downtown Montreal -- and about 3 blocks from our hotel -- around 9:00pm on Friday evening.
On Saturday, Dan and Jakob rented some Bixi bikes and did a tour up Mount Royal, while everyone else toured Grandma and Grandpa's old stomping grounds. In the afternoon, we all met up for a tour of the Archeological Museum, featuring an incredible underground archeological excavation of the early years of Montreal.
Evening dinner on Rue Prince Arthur was awesome. The restaurant didn't serve alcohol, but it was okay to go to the variety store across the street (closed to vehicular traffic) and buy our own. The restaurant patio wasn't fenced off either (like in Ontario -- to protect us from... something) so making a few trips to the variety store was convenient and easy.
On Sunday, it was off to Ile Ste-Helene on Bixi bikes for Dan and Jakob, while everyone else visited an art museum. Later that evening we all enjoyed dinner in Old Montreal.
A great weekend excursion!
