GeoKs
That's a hefty hunk of geocoin! Counting the copper geodetic survey marker on the top, this coin is 6 mm thick. This is the first personal geocoin of Calgary, Alberta geocaching family GeoKs, and they went all out. This is the Canadian Edition of the coin (antique silver with a antique copper benchmark). There were 125 minted and they were trade-only.
On the back of the coin is Highwood Pass, in Alberta. At 2206 m, it is the highest point in Canada that can be reached on a paved road. The front of the coin pictures GeoKs' essentials for hiking trips, many of which start from Highwood Pass.
The benchmark represents the Canada Geodetic Survey marker close to Highwood Pass that was placed in the 1950s. Apparently, the Canadian Geological Survey attempted to confirm its location in the 1980s, but failed to find it.
