Normally I don't collect US State geocoins, but this one was mentioned in a thread I started about geocoins with skulls. There's a skull on this geocoin? Yes, there is. It is hidden in the palmetto tree and is a tribute to Edgar Allan Poe's story "The Gold Bug" which takes place in South Carolina and involves one of the characters searching through a skull to find a treasure. I'll have to read that one again.
